Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

  • What is kinesiology? Kinesiology is a holistic, non-invasive therapy that uses gentle muscle testing to identify imbalances in the body’s structural, biochemical, emotional, and energetic systems. It works with the body’s natural ability to heal itself, aiming to restore balance, vitality, and wellbeing. Find out more here
  • How does muscle testing work? Muscle testing involves applying light pressure to specific muscles to assess how they respond. This feedback reveals areas of stress or imbalance and helps guide the practitioner toward the most appropriate corrections for your body’s needs.
  • What can kinesiology help with? It can support a wide range of concerns including pain, fatigue, digestive issues, food sensitivities, hormonal imbalances, stress, anxiety, emotional trauma, sleep disturbances, and more.
  • Is kinesiology safe? Yes. Kinesiology is gentle, drug-free, and non-invasive. It is suitable for people of all ages, from children to the elderly, and works alongside conventional medical care and other therapies.
  • How many sessions will I need? This depends on your individual goals and the nature of your concern. Some people notice improvement after just one session, while others benefit from a series of treatments to address deeper or long-term issues.
  • What happens during a session? Each session starts with a discussion about your health history and goals. Muscle testing is then used to identify imbalances, followed by gentle corrections which may include nutritional advice, emotional stress release, energy balancing, and lifestyle recommendations.
  • Do I need to prepare for my session? Wear comfortable clothing and drink some water beforehand. There’s no special preparation required, but having a clear idea of your goals can help focus the session.
  • Will I need to undress? No. All kinesiology testing and corrections are performed with you fully clothed. Please do not wear skirts or dresses.
  • Can kinesiology diagnose medical conditions? No. Kinesiology does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. It identifies imbalances and supports your body’s natural healing processes. Always seek medical advice from your GP for any concerns.
  • Can kinesiology be used alongside other therapies or medical treatment? Yes. It complements conventional medicine, physiotherapy, counselling, and many other forms of holistic therapy.
  • How long is a kinesiology session? Initial consultations usually last 60–90 minutes. Follow-up sessions are generally 60 minutes.
  • What should I expect after a session? You may feel calmer, lighter, and more energised. Sometimes mild detox symptoms such as tiredness or emotional release may occur as your body adjusts. All of this is temporary and part of the healing process.
  • Is everything we discuss confidential? Absolutely. All personal information shared during sessions is treated with the highest level of confidentiality.

Myths & Misconceptions About Kinesiology

  • “Kinesiology is just about muscles.” While the term originates from the study of movement and muscles, systematic kinesiology uses muscle testing as a communication tool to access information about many aspects of health – physical, emotional, biochemical, and energetic.
  • “It’s the same as physiotherapy or chiropractic care.” Although kinesiology may address structural alignment and movement, it is a distinct holistic therapy that focuses on the whole person, not just the joints or muscles.
  • “It’s only for people with injuries.” Kinesiology is used for far more than injury recovery. It can improve energy levels, digestion, sleep, emotional balance, stress management, and overall wellbeing.
  • “Kinesiology can diagnose illnesses.” It cannot diagnose medical conditions. Instead, it identifies imbalances and supports your body’s own healing. Always see your GP for diagnosis or treatment of illness.
  • “You have to believe in it for it to work.” Kinesiology is based on the body’s neurological and muscular responses, not belief. Many people benefit from it even if they were initially sceptical.
  • “It’s a one-off fix.” While positive change can occur after one session, deeper or long-standing issues may require multiple sessions to achieve and maintain balance.

I had never heard of kinesiology and I was intrigued how it works and more importantly, whether it was effective. Well, I couldn’t get my head around how something so non-invasive could have such an effect on the body and mind!

Claire is very professional, knowledgable in her field and tailors the session according to your own personal journey. Just wonderful!

I will be returning for another session soon!
